The primary benefits of cloud computing are increased efficiency, decreased costs and increased performance. However, there are other related benefits that companies often overlook, such as streamlined business processes, better collaboration and flexible working schedules.
The foundational infrastructure of cloud computing comprises central servers, data storage and software that connects devices. However, it also covers an array of functional software, including accounting applications and customer service tools. These can be run either by the company itself or by a third-party provider (CSP).
There are three major types of cloud services: Infrastructure as a Service, Platform as a Service and Software as a Service.
Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) lets you rent hardware as well as software and storage infrastructure from a cloud provider on a pay-as you-go basis. This model provides unmatched scalability with the ability to add or remove virtual resources quickly and easily to meet demand.
Platform as a Service (PaaS) provides a complete application development environment hosted in the cloud. It allows you to create applications that are compatible with your current system software and hosted in the same location provided you’ve got an Internet connection.
With the capability to access cloud-based software and documents from any device that has an internet connection, businesses are able to work from any location, even at home. This lets you work more easily arrangements which can boost employee motivation and improve productivity. It also helps to reduce costs as you do not have to buy hardware for office use.
